This is the final native dynasty of ancient Egypt. Following the demise of Nectanebo II, Egypt was subjected to foreign domination.
By 380 BC, Nectanebo I had established control over the entirety of Egypt. However, he dedicated the majority of his reign to repelling incursions by the Persians, who regarded Egypt as a rebellious satrapy. He did, on occasion, receive assistance from Sparta and Athens. Finally, in 343 BC, the second Persian invasion was successful, resulting in Nectanebo II's withdrawal from his defensive positions in the Nile Delta to Memphis. There, he recognised the futility of his cause and subsequently fled south to Nubia. This marked the end of native Egyptian rule.
The chronological order
It is important to note that the chronological order of the pharaohs is an evolving subject and should therefore be treated with a certain degree of caution. As new research is conducted, the order may be subject to change, which is a fundamental principle that applies to all Egyptian dynasties.
